Yes, you read that correctly all of them… even those that we often consider problematic can bring us joy when we take the time to understand them and view them in a new light. Nature’s Magnificence

The world is full of amazing beauties that largely go unnoticed on a daily basis. One of the reasons these animals fail to attract our admiration is the fact that we are often inconvenienced by their presence. They are usually seen as intruders that carry diseases or damage property and make our living spaces uncomfortable. But if we look closer we’ll notice marvellous facts about these animals. Even though we are inclined to only see the negatives, there is a lot of beauty, magnificence and sheer awesomeness within these animals. Raccoons and Rats

Raccoons and Norway rats, for example, are experts at adapting. Unlike human beings who change the environment to suit their needs, these animals change their habits, diets and even biology to meet the changing environments in which they must live. This is why they thrive so well in environments (such as cities) that have been altered significantly by people.

Virginia Opossum

The Virginia Opossum has a creative and often amusing as well way of evading predators, especially those predators that prefer to have their meals live. This shrewd deceiver can play dead for up to a whopping six hours. We also have this animal to thank for the English terminology ‘playing possum’. Another outstanding fact about this great pretender is that it is the only Canadian wildlife animal that falls in the marsupial category.

The Little Brown Bat

One of Canada’s most interesting wildlife residents is the little brown myotis, more popularly known as the little brown bat. This bat should be adored by all cultivators whether you plant flowers or food. The bat helps to safeguard plants from insects because it feeds on the insects which can destroy plants. One little brown bat alone consumes thousands of insects each day. The little brown bat is also a friend of the outdoor fan because mosquitoes are a primary source of its diet. By eating the mosquitoes, the bat keeps the pesky biters’ population down and reduces the likelihood of people getting bitten as they explore the outdoors. Unfortunately, this friend of the farmer is facing a terrible enemy, the white-nose syndrome, a disease that has decimated bat populations around the world and has been ravaging species like the little brown myotis.

Photographers who specialize in capturing images of wildlife in their natural habitat are privy to the best seat in the house when it comes to observing nature’s majestic show.
