North York’s Natural Gems
The region’s ample parks and green spaces offer an amazing opportunity for families to disconnect from the often stressful elements of modern living and reconnect with each other. Outdoor activities such as picnics and nature walks are excellent for this purpose. If you want your family to be a little more adventurous and mobile this summer (which is always a great idea, especially for children) then you may want to go for a hike along one of Toronto’s nature trails. For awesome scenic views and entertaining wildlife sightings consider walking along the trails at Spencer Adventure Trail, Beamer Memorial Conservation Area, High Park or Albion Hills. Other hiking trails in Toronto include Scarborough Bluffs (which has excellent views!), Nemo, Hockle Valley Memorial Park, Elora Gorge, and Rouge National Park. If you decide to take on the challenge of the Beamer Memorial Conservation Area’s trail on a clear day, you may just be lucky enough to get a view of the magnificent Niagara Escarpment.
