Truro is a town located in central Nova Scotia, Canada. Truro is the shire town of Colchester County and is situated on the southern area of the Salmon River. The town is near the river’s mouth on the eastern side of Cobequid Bay. Truro is recognized as the hub of Nova Scotia because of its location between the Canadian National Railway that runs between Sydney and Truro. The town has transformed from its rural years in the mid-1800s to a more developed railway hub in its region.
Its development has affected the wildlife surrounding the town. Squirrels, raccoons, bats, and birds are using homeowners’ attics, spaces between walls, sheds, and chimneys as homes as they seek to raise their young in warm places. Attempting to solve wildlife issues on your own can potentially cause harm to you or the animal, and may further damage your property. A mother raccoon may get aggressive if she thinks that her young are threatened. Urban wildlife can cause damage to property, spread diseases, and carry parasites into your home.
The Nova Scotia SPCA is empowered by the Animal Protection Act to investigate forms of animal cruelty. The provincial act also helps secure the arrest, conviction, and punishment of anyone who violates the act.
