Protected Species
Legislation like the Migratory Birds Convention Act, the Endangered Species Act and the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act makes it a crime to remove most bird's nests and eggs from your property without prior approval. Since it is not usually possible for individuals to get a permit to remove most nests and eggs, it's best to hire an expert to take care of it. Certain species of birds get special protections in Ontario due to their endangered or threatened status. Some of these birds have limited numbers, requiring the government to step in so that they don't become extinct. There are 11 protected bird species in Ontario. It is unlawful to interfere with these birds or their nests unless the wildlife company gets special permission from the Ministry of Natural Resources. The protected species are the:- Bald eagle
